UMC EverKids Sunday School Program and Action Pack
The EverKids Action Pack meets at 9:30 on Sunday mornings. This mission-oriented experience for children Preschool through Fifth Grade focuses on on-site service projects and Biblical lessons associated with service. The program has a mission focus and includes a full Bible Lesson each week. Children are encouraged to explore their interests as we work on and complete all different kinds of mission work: from making chocolate in a fundraising project, to knitting prayer scarves for children in need, to cleaning up around the church, our mornings are full of action!
Our UMC EverKids Sunday School takes place during the 10:30 service. We have a great time of study, in age appropriate classrooms. We use the Deep Blue Sunday School curriculum to learn both Old and New Testament lessons.
The Story for Kids
Looking for something fun, educational and rewarding for your children to do during the week? “The Story” for Kids is a Wednesday afternoon story-telling time that helps children learn and understand the Bible and the stories it contains. Each week we hear a Bible story in narrative format, see a skit, complete a craft, and play educational games associated with the Bible Story. Parents are welcome but not required to stay and enjoy the program as well!
Annual Special Events for Children
Easter Egg Hunt: On Easter Sunday each year, the church hosts an Easter Egg hunt on the church grounds, after the 10:30 service. Children of all ages are invited to stay after church and find treats awaiting them outside!
Fall Festival: In September each year, the entire congregation is invited to participate in the Fall Festival in the church parking lot. An event for all ages, it features many fun activities for children, including a bouncy castle, face painting, carnival-style games, and of course: great food!
Trunk or Treat: On the Sunday before Halloween, UMC Evergreen sponsors a Trunk or Treat event in the church parking lot, following the 10:30 service. Congregants decorate their cars and children are invited to wear their costumes and trick or treat in the parking lot. This event is especially fun for young children, because they have the opportunity to trick or treat without walking long distances, it takes place in daylight, and it is a safe environment. But of course, children of all ages (including grown up children!) have a great time participating.
Christmas Musical: Every year the children of the church put on a Christmas program. We spend the month of November rehearsing during portions of the Sunday School hour and put on a fun-filled program for the whole church during December!
Spontaneous Christmas Pageant: Every Christmas Eve UMC Evergreen holds a special 4PM service geared toward children. The children of the community are invited to participate in a no-rehearsals Christmas pageant. It's a great way to introduce children to the story of the first Christmas, as well as give them memories that will last a lifetime. All children are welcome to participate and constumes are provided! Children choose their own roles in the pageant. Don't miss this uniquely wonderful Christmas experience!
