Children & Youth
youth mission 2016
The UMCE Youth Group students and chaperones spent the week of July 10-15 in Alamosa, Colorado. We worked in two teams with La Puente and the San Luis Valley Habitat for Humanity during the week. We had a wonderful time, completed a number of important projects, and grew by leaps and bounds in our own spiritual lives.
Our projects included building a home for a family, volunteering at a summer program for traumatized children, community gardening, cooking at a soup kitchen, collecting and splitting firewood to heat a homeless shelter, stocking at a thirft store, and much, much more.
We finished off our week of mission work with a camping trip to Sand Dunes National Park. Wer climbed dunes, waded in streams, hiked to waterfalls, cooked over the campfire, and had an all-around great time.
We are so thankful for the mission opportunities we have!
