John the Baptist has spent his life preparing the way for the Messiah, but nothing prepares him for the moment Jesus steps into the river. In this encounter, Jesus is revealed as God’s Beloved, and John is called to see himself differently as well. This Sunday invites us to remember our own baptism and the truth spoken over every one of us: we belong to God, and we are beloved.
