The Seeker: Ethiopian Eunuch

Aug 13, 2023    Rev. Sarah Clark

There are a few things we know for sure about the Ethiopian eunuch – this unnamed early convert to the

newly forming church. He was an important man – in charge of the treasury of the Ethiopian Queen. He was

an outcast in his society, part of a marginalized minority. He was a person of faith – having come from the

temple, reading the scripture. And he was a seeker. Through his conversation with Philip he discovers Jesus –

one who, like him, knew sorrow and pain; one who sees him and welcomes him as he is. He encounters Philip

as a seeker and he leaves rejoicing.
