Our mission

Jesus replied, “You must love the Lord your God with all your hearts, with all your being, and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: You must love your neighbor as you love yourself. All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commands.” (Matthew 22:37-40, CEB)

Our Mission

Love God More...Love More People

Our Vision

We seek to help people know God, discover grace, grow in love, and make a difference.

5 Core Purposes (Values)

Outreach
Connect people to Jesus through personal invitation and intentional invitational events to the community.

Worship
Provide opportunities for people to connect to God through Word, sacrament, music, and prayer, and witness.

Service
Encourage and equip our church family to make a difference in the lives of our neighbors near and far.

Hospitality
Create a culture of radical welcome where every person feels a sense of belonging.

Discipleship
Help people grow in their relationship with God by gaining an understanding of God’s movement of grace in their lives through small groups, studies, and prayer.

Our Beliefs

We believe God is at work in every person.
We believe that Jesus’ love liberates us and changes our lives.
We believe that the Holy Spirit inspires us to grow in love for God, for others, and for ourselves.
We believe that the Bible tells the story of God and God’s people. We believe the Bible is a guide for how to live in God’s way, and is never meant to be a weapon or to build walls between us.
We believe that faith is a journey not a destination, and that it is easier and more life-giving when we do it together.

A Church Where All Are Welcome

At UMCE, we extend a special welcome to those who are single, married, divorced, LGBTQ, straight, wealthy, financially struggling, young, and old. We welcome those who are over 60 but still have not grown up yet, and teenagers who are growing up too fast. We welcome those who don’t like organized religion and those who are visiting from out of town. We welcome soccer moms, Boy Scout dads, NASCAR fans, vegetarians, exercise enthusiasts, and junk food eaters. We welcome those who are in recovery and those who are still battling addiction. We welcome people of every race, ethnicity, and cultural background. We welcome people who are passionate about Jesus and people who are wrestling with their faith. But most of all, we welcome you.
