Simplicity and Joy

Ralph Waldo Emerson said that we must be careful of what we worship because “what we are worshiping, we are becoming.” Through today’s parable, Jesus reminds us that what we invest in is what we become as well. Are we investing in things that are fleeting, storing up treasures that don’t really mean much? Or are we investing in the kingdom? In God’s economy, a budget is a moral document, and on this day we reflect on how we spend our resources as individuals and as a church.
