This isn’t a story of Christ’s resurrection, but it is the story of the resurrection of the disciples’ courage and the beginning of the new Christian movement. It is a vivid display of how God was and is and will be at work in the church. It is a confirmation of Jesus’ promise in John’s gospel when he told them that he would leave them “another advocate to help you and be with you forever.” This story is the beginning of the movement of Christ’s love alive and at work in the world far beyond the few followers of Jesus. It is a story of the limitlessness of God’s desire to love and redeem all of creation!
