When Jesus appeared to the disciples in last week’s story, Thomas wasn’t there. When he came back to the excited disciples, he doubted the good news they shared. He needed to see it for himself. When Jesus returns, he asks Jesus to show him his hands and his side. Jesus shows him, and Thomas rejoices. Sometimes when we are locked in cycles of uncertainty or fear, we want to know that something is sure. We can ask Jesus to come to us, to be with us, to assure us of his love and presence. When we do, we discover that Jesus is there – we discover that in our lostness, Jesus finds us every time.
