Empowered

The Great Commission in the gospel of Matthew is the very last word of the entire gospel. The last words of Jesus to his disciples here were words that empowered them to be the proclaimers of the good news that Jesus brought. The disciples would be baptizers. They became miracle workers and did much to continue the work Jesus began. The Great Commission is a moment of empowerment to do great things, to make disciples, and to teach them the Way of Jesus. When we learn something that changes our own lives, we should also share what we learn with others. The disciples sat at the feet of Jesus and learned from him for about three years. They had much to teach and, as we are well aware, those teachings spread like wildfire.
