Take Up Your Cross

Hold on can trap us, imprison us, placate us, and distract us. Once we have released our hold on the things

that have a hold on us we are then free to take up our calling – to follow a path of discipleship, to take up our

cross. Jesus says some chilling words to the crowd about the delicate balance of being in the world but not of

it. Following Jesus means letting go, but it also means taking up. Paul gives us practical wisdom about what it

looks like to take up our crosses daily – and where our focus should be as we take steps down the road of life

following Jesus.
